Configure system locks

Hi everyone,

we have configured workflows for our items that we use in our regulated processes. One of the reasons we do so is to avoid intended or unintended changes in already approved items and to control the approval process - only persons with dedicated project roles are allowed to use certain transistions. So all in all we are quite reliant on this feature within Jama.

Unfortunately the system locks feature is not configurable in terms of which information of the item gets locke - it just locks down the complete item. In the past releases it was possible to add tags to system locked items (and maybe other meta-information as well), but with 8.25 even this is not possible anymore.

We would like to be able to configure for each item type which fields become locked when system locks are applied during the workflow.

Generally spoken: All information that we review and approve for regulatory reasons should be locked, other information should not be locked.

Examples from our context for information that we would lock in an item, are:
- For specification items: Summary, description, Risk assessment
- For test cases: Summary, description, Test Steps
- For Backlog items: User Story, Acceptance criteria

Examples for information in the items that we would not lock, are:
- Tags, Attachments, Assignee, due dates, any other informal additional information

We would also like to configure, if the following actions are possible for system locked items:
- Move item
- Duplicate item
- Edit relationships
- Usage of "make current" feature

Hopefully this request gets some support.

Anna

    Hi,

we will very much welcome the possibility to configure for each item type by system lock which fields shall be locked, so that we could set System Lock applied only to approved content and other fields/ widget could still be updated according to the need during the life cycle of the items. It will help our teams much with their work in jama.

Agreed!  This is exactly how automatic system locks should work.  This would give Jama Connect some much needed workflow flexibility, and reduce overhead processing of administrative minor changes.

    We also would like this.

Currently we use Tasktop to sync between Jama and one other system.  When the item is locked, Tasktop is unable to keep certain fields synchronized.  This makes managing the items difficult.
