Specify Sync at a revision (or version)

We have a fair amount of items that are shared across a few different projects. The shared items are often still in a continued development cycle themselves. Unless this is a feature, I cannot find, we would like to be able to specify a specific revision (or version) when syncing an item(s) into a project.
For example:
Component Foo is on version 3, and is in a "common use" folder for syncing purposes. We then want to use Component Foo in Project Bar. It would be nice to be able to sync Component Foo into Project Bar by specifying version 2 (a more stable version) during the sync. It would also be nice, to to then pull version 3 of Component Foo into Project Bar when it becomes stable, also by specifying it.
