  • 1.  Move item with REST API

    Posted 28 days ago
I am using Jama Connect  8.62.4 and would like to know whether it is possible to move an existing item within one component.
I saw some discussions How to move items with REST and Support, but they seems not providing a clear solution.

I understand the feature should be now accessible through the Rest API.
Can the put item command be used with some specific location parameters ?

    Thanks for your clarification.

    Hi Romain,

Are you looking to move items within a container, such as moving items in list view, or are you trying to accomplish a different goal?

yes this is one case. Another case is to add a new item in a container before a given item already in the container.

The request is to do this using the Rest API.

Ah, I see -- thank you for the additional detail. To move items within list view, the process described in Move items in List View would be recommended.

For the usage case in which a new item would be added to a container before given items are in that same container already, one way to go about it would be to set the parent of an item -- this would result in that item being moved to the end of the child list of the parent assigned (positions cannot be set in a list of sibling items for an item, however).

For moving an item to a specific position within a list using REST API, it'd require quite a manual process that has huge performance indications and is therefore not recommended.
