    Hi Team,

Please help me in creating Sandbox environment for Jama production to develop BIRT and velocity reports.
Also help me how can we maintain the integrity of JAMA production data?

    Hi Gayatri,

Please see Shawnna's article about what is needed to create advanced reports. (You can ignore the parts about uploading to hosted if you are not a hosted customer.) This article describes what is needed and links to other articles that provide in-depth instructions for creating a sandbox.

What do you mean about maintaining the integrity of Jama production data? There is nothing tying the sandbox to the production instance.

    Hi Kristina,

we are using Jama hosted environment and do have the need to develop some BIRT or Velocity templates. Therefore, we obviously need a development / test environment. Looking at the blog posts you shared (by Shawnna and Iris), it seems that what is called a "sandbox environment" is basially a productive local environment with a special "test license". Is this observation correct? Can you provide me further information about this test license (in particular regarding pricing)? Are there any other options to get access to a development / test environment for report devlopment, e.g. a "hosted development / test environment".

I too am curious if we go hosted, would we get a replicate test environment?
I very often use our test environment (on-prem) to demo, mock-up, prove, test various features & methods vs. using our prod environment.

    Hi Alexander (and Mary)
If you are an Enterprise customer, you can get a license for a sandbox environment. The deployment type depends on the deployment type you have for production:
    1. On-prem can have an on-prem sandbox or a hosted sandbox.
    2. Hosted will likely have a hosted sandbox; you can opt for an on-prem sandbox, but you have to pay additional fees for a Replicated license (which current hosted customers don't see in any way-only on-premises customers install it).

We have forwarded your questions to your account owners who should be reaching out to you concerning setting them up and any fees that may be due depending on your choice.

    Hi Kristina,

it seems that a hosted sandbox / test environemnt with the capabilities of testing custom reports is currently not offered / supprted - at least this it the information we got from our account owner / manager (in Europe). Are there any plans to support such kind of environment in the near future? Without having a hosted test environment for report development would force hosted customers to operate a local installation - which is likely what hosted customers want avoid. The only way is then not to test a custom report at all before asking the Jama team to upload it to the productive environment (this may result in several "unwanted" cycles).

    Many thanks, Alexander

    Hi Alexander,

The blocker to offering a hosted sandbox specifically for report creation is that, like you mention, as hosters of the environment we would have to upload the reports for you. At this point we have no plans to create new functionality for report creation that would enable you to upload the reports yourself because it is seen as a risk-it is conceivable that a poorly-written BIRT or Velocity report could cause a server to crash. So because of this, a hosted sandbox can be used only for non-reporting uses.
