  • 1.  Jama upgrade from 8.56.3 to 8.66.

    Posted 12-13-2021 00:29

    Hi

We at Nasdaq plan to upgrade from our current version 8.56.3 to the latest 8.66.1

Can you please confirm our suggested procedure or correct any errors.
    1. Upgrade SQL Database as described in 8.62.4
    2. Upgrade replicated to version 2.51.0
    3. Upgrade Jama to version 8.64.4 (Jama-6414.01.airgap)
    4. Run reindex
    5. Upgrade replicated to 2.53.0
    6. Upgrade Jama to 8.66.1 (Jama-7104.jama)
    7. Run reindex

I also have a question regarding SQL Database upgrade. It is stated in Release Notes that "For the upgrade to complete, organizations using Microsoft SQL Server must enter database users in Replicated." What are these entries in Replicated?

Our Jama database is called contour, so I assume we just replace jama in provided scripts with contour.

We plan to do production upgrade mid January and Test environment as soon as possible

We have also read this but just want to have a confirmation:

Incremental Step Upgrade for Jama 8.x and Beyond - Self-Hosted

    Hi

I successfully upgraded the first step 8.56 -> 8.64 yesterday. I found out the the new datbase users was added in replicated when upgrading to the new version. This could been clarified in the release notes.

The reindex after upgrade took 8h:45m. this was 4 h more than last upgrade 12 months ago. Upgrading in production will go a little bit faster due to more cpu:s but in total with 2 upgrades = 2 reindex the upgrade will take at least 12 hours including test. Is there a possibility to make the indexing more efficient.

This is the statistics from the reindex:

Please comment why indexing taks so long time.

I haven't yet heard anythin from support yet, but I think the ticket can be closed.

I will upgrad from 8.64 to 8.66 today

    Hi Raimo,

I'm glad to hear upgrading from 8.56 to 8.64 was successful, and the candid feedback on how release notes can be clarified moving forward is appreciated!

In terms of reindexing timeframes, that is dependent on a few factors (such as data sizes and system resources) so it can be variable. It looks like our team is working with you to dig deeper into that for your specific case so, if additional support is needed there, please let us know through that ticket.
