Dashboard replication

We have asked for this request in the past. A way to create a dashboard as part of a template project. When that template project is duplicated, duplicate the dashboard/widgets/etc as well.0
-
Thanks. One would think there are a few options for JAMA development in order of desirability:
1. Add replicate dashboard option to duplicate project.
2. Allow users to save the dashboard config locally and upload it to the project.
3. Give customers x number of times per year that JAMA can configure this on the backend, as they must be pointing to a config file on the server. This only works when the customer wants one default dashboard for all projects.
I've found the product is very powerful in reducing admin overload with admin settings, reuse and duplicate project capabilitities. The dashboard gap is the only obstacle to not losing an hour or two per project to productivity.0 -
Thanks for bringing this up, Tony. I agree with you and Angie that duplicating a dashboard as part of Duplicate Project function or creating some sort of template would save admins a lot of time. Thanks for sharing variations on the idea.0
-
Thanks! So what happens from here?0

Here's how Jama uses the Ideas that customers share. Essentially, when our Product team focuses on an area of Jama to update they take a look at the ideas that have come in for that functional area or feature and consider them. We also have a process where the most popular Ideas get added to other customer requests and prioritized for potential update or inclusion. So in this case the idea wouldn't be added to the priority list because only two customers have "voted" for it, but that may change a month from now as others see it. (I go through this list monthly.)0

So like Hillary, Bernie, Donald and Ben looks like I have to hit the campaign trail0

Yes. I hope you have millions of dollars to support this effort!0

I vote for this functionality0

Folks-
I'd like to propose a slight tweak on this as another alternative, and to raise a related question.
Use Case: There a number of small projects running within an organization and management would like a separate summary dashboard across a number of projects.
In concept, I'm thinking it might be convenient to reference existing dashboard widgets in another dashboard ... as you might across web pages. That is, one (embedded) source widget, and a display of it in multiple places.
I recognize / think this is a little different from the use case here, but it brings up something interesting I've thought about ... a little. The widgets we mostly used are based on filters which are always being tweaked it seems. A few are scoped to the "current project", but the majority, in practice, seem to be tuned to each project.
Bottom line, in my dashboard creation/management experience, much of the work in cloning a dashboard is in replicating the required filters for each widget. (To me to duplicate some dashboards may imply replicating some filters ... which may not be straightforward.)
Any thoughts?

We generally use standard conventions across projects so all/most of our filters used for dashboards are scoped to the "current project". Regardless, the idea of having a referencable set of dashboard widgets would help.0

This would be great.
We initially thought Jama had this feature when we tested it out. It seems we were so newbie we didn't realize duplicating projects doesn't duplicate the dashboard.

Any updates? Has this been accepted into a backlog?
My users are asking for this too. We have 2 cases.
First, multiple projects want the same dashboard. It would be be helpful to have a template that can be re-used.
Second, with each release we create new widgets. The widgets are the same layout as prior widgets, but using a new filter specific to the release. Users want to copy the existing widgets.

hi Jonathan,
There is no update to share on this request. Our winter backlog revolves around testing, REST API and item flow: Product Bulletin: Look Ahead - Winter 2016

I would really like to see this feature implemented as well. I really like Bob's idea "separate summary dashboard across a number of projects". Having this on the home page would be very beneficial for monitoring a program of several projects. Going one further I would really like to have the ability to have the dashboard available to display continuously on a project status monitor in our project meeting areas.

+1 from us. The lack of dashboard copy is an annoying pain in the chuckies for our Jama admins.
We use multiple widgets, including custom widgets which contain a bunch of HTML. These have to be manually copied and the dashboard configured every time we create a project.
I'd like to see a "copy dashboard verbatim" option in the duplicate project options.
