Feature Request: picklist quick navigate by key

Feature Request:  Ability to quickly navigate/filter picklist option by keyboard

Problem:  We have some item types with large picklists that would benefit greatly by keyboard navigation/filtering.  Currently, this behavior is not available in either the single select picklist (only arrow keys) or multi-select picklist fields.  We realize this problem can be mitigated by creating smaller picklists, but unfortunately this is not always possible.

Suggestion:  Similar to the Tag field, implement a quick picklist option filter based on characters typed by keyboard -- matching filtered picklist options list is refreshed as characters are being typed, allowing for easier selection.

    Hi Victor,

    The latest self-hosted release (8.49) includes a type-ahead feature on single and multi-select lists in single item edit-mode. You can narrow down the list by typing characters. You can also navigate and select your options using the keyboard.

    Hi Robin,

    This is *exactly* what we wanted (it's like you read our mind, lol)!  We just upgraded to 8.42.3 so we will upgrade again to 8.49 to get this and the many other improvements in the new version!

    Hello,

    This type-ahead feature for single and multi-select picklist fields is great, but we noticed it only works when editing an existing item.  When adding a new item, the type-ahead feature does not work.  Is it possible to make it work during item creation as well?
