Cache Statistics

I have searched through the release notes, community, and help, and all I find in regards to the Cache Statistics in the System Administration area is that they can be cleared under "special circumstances", but it is not clear what those are. 

Is there a risk in clearing all cache? Are there some stats that are safe to clear? 

We sometimes end up with reports hung up running when we test out new velocity code, and I think that could be related to the "backingSingleDocumentNodeCache" but I have not found confirmation of this. Is there any documentation on these statistics? Thanks!

    Hi Lita, 

    Great question! Typically, the "special circumstances" would be more connected to troubleshooting situations like trying to resolve a "stuck" job, versus hung reporting with Velocity code (I don't believe the documentNodeCache is related to Velocity jobs). For hung Velocity reports, it's more likely an issue with the report itself -- we'd recommend testing out the new Velocity code on a single item or small subset instead of with the full report straightaway.
