Set Flag Value to True or False Based on if there are upstream links

Is there a way to set a flag to true if there are upstream items of a specific type? I thought I could use the existing Calculation Relationship excel file with a small edit to specify if values exist set to true if blank set to no. 

Anyone do anything like this?

    Disregard request. There was something wrong with the integration I created. It would not sync.  I created a new integration with same values and it worked as intended.... Odd

    Thanks for the update, Jason, and feel free to submit a support ticket if it happens again. I think the approach you describe here regarding the relationships is a good one.
