Hi community!

I am trying to create a report template using mail merge.
I have a number of section in the template, so that there are a few H1 headings before and a few after the section, where the data from JAMA should be populated during export.

What happens is that no matter what I try, JAMA always moves the data and the relevant subheading (2. Requirements in the attached file) to the end of the document (4.  Document change history) , essentially appending everything as subheading to that last heading.

JAMA also breaks the alignment of the affected headings, moving them very close to the left edge of the page, for what seems to be no reason.

I hope I was able to explain myself. I am attaching the template.

Hi Eugene,
the problem with the basic Office templates using mail merge fields is, that it has limitations when it comes to predefining the order inside the template. 
I recommend to have a look here to understand the limitations of the mail merge format:
Custom Word Template Easy Start Guide (jamasoftware.com)
E.g.: 
It is important to note that the order in which items are exported does not relate to the order in which the template codes are placed, but rather by the order in which they are shown within Jama.
or:
When you create a custom Word template with Mail Merge, it will export according to the order of the heading (it will not update to a custom order).  You can specify what item types you want displayed, but it will not export according to the order you put the Mail Merge tags into the template.

If you want to have a report according your template, you probably have to use velocity.

I understand.

With regards to velocity, I've actually tried and immediately had a problem of having a picture embedded into the title page.
Word saves it in separate folder, when document saved as html, which cannot be uploaded to Jama as part of the template.... The only way to embed the picture, is to upload it somewhere and put a link to it into the html.. Am I right? Or missing something?

In our word velocity reports, in which we include our company logo, I also follow this approach. I just put a link to the picture into the html and it gets downloaded when the file is opened the first time.
But we also have a velocity report for excel, in which the logo is embedded as gfxdata. I am not sure if this would also work for a word velocity.

Edit:
When you save your word template with the picture as a single file web page (.mht), you should get the picture included encoded as base64 and you should be able to go from there. But I haven't tried myself.
