After start running the test case we will be updating the Planned Execution Date Field and then saving it to save the results without errors.

I was able to find a work-around based off information I found here on the Jama Community. I did also create a ticket with Jama tech support and this is apparently a bug. They've assigned it a defect ID of SOS-DEF-6697 and indicated to look for this on future Release notes.
Work-around below:
Medium
- SOS-DEF-6668 - Trace View & Coverage Explorer - Items with Matrix Lookup Calculations not showing properly and also exporting it
- SOS-DEF-6674 - API | PATCH/testruns/{id} unauthorized message when attempting to edit a read-only field despite API overwrite being enabled
- Workaround- Use the PUT function
- SOS-DEF-6697 - 'Error marshaling data. See the logs for more details.' error pops up when a custom date field is not filled on the Test Run
- Workaround - Set a date on the custom field
