Add pin to screen for relate items panel

When relating items by (multi-)selecting from the list view then selecting Actions/Relate to open the relate items panel, this click-click and change to explorer view (my personal choice for the panel) needs to be done for each set of items to be related. The panel shows on the screen after relationships have been created but disappears as soon as an item is selected or unselected in the list view.
When creating a large number of relationships it would be a great time-saver if users could 'pin' the relate item panel to the screen when using the item list view so that items can be un/selected and further relationships created without having to click-click-select.
We like the multi-select of items in the relate items panel and it would be great if this continues when the panel is fixed. An addition would be a single button or keyboard shortcut to remove all selected items in the panel to prevent relationships from being accidentally created.
