Hi everyone,
Based on user feedback, we have updated two of our existing Excel Functions templates to make them easier to use -
- Plain Text Parameter Replacement
- Text Substitution Example
An updated library of ALL the templates is attached. Questions on how to use a template, or have ideas for a new one? Please leave a comment!

I am curious about the Plain text and Rich Text Parameter Replacement examples. Is this somehow a solution for running the same test against different parameters (i.e. {browse} for Chrome, Edge, Safarai)??0

Hi Jason, we could use the parameters template for browser testing (or other variable testing) as long as we can identify a condition to specify which browser name to populate in each test run. What would be your preferred workflow for this?
The first thing that occurs to me would be to create separate test cycles for each browser and then populate the {{browser}} placeholder from the test case based on the test cycle name. Unfortunately, JCI doesn't talk to test cycles today - only test cases and test runs.Is this what you have in mind or something different? Let me know and we can explore this further.

Thank you for the prompt response. Ideally, we would want the ability to create a single test case and include in the specific step a parameter (e.g. Step 1. Open {browser}). When we go to execute the test case it will create separate test runs for each browser. This also applies to many other test case scenarios in our company.0 -

Thanks for letting me know! I'll take this into consideration when we enhance the parameterization functionality of Excel Functions (not on the roadmap today, but will be considered in the future).0 -
Hey Debbie,
In regards to your message above about "creating separate test cycles for each browser and then populating the browser placeholder from the test cases based on the cycle names" - is this something that could be implemented within the current version of JCI, or should we wait for further updates?
Thanks for the help!0 -
