Error with images in Items

Hello,
we are using Jama Connect 8.79.3 (self hosted).
When we insert an image to an Item, this Item can be saved normally at first. 
But if we want to edit this item and e.g. change the image size or add a text, this item can't be saved anymore ("save" button is grayed out). The only option is to press the "cancel" button. As a result, the content of the item is no longer displayed, but a blank white page. After reopening the item, the previous content is visible again.
What could be the reason for this?

    We are encountering the same issue mostly with items containing large images. We need a solution to resolve this issue.
