Follow-Up on Bug Report: Outline Level Setting Issue (Defect SOS-DEF-1388)

I am following up on an existing bug report regarding the outline level setting issue in JAMA, which has been persisting since at least 2017. Specifically, the problem involves the outline level of the description field being set to level 4 despite having the style set to Normal. The Normal style should have the outline level configured as "Body Text." As a result of this bug, the descriptions show up in the navigation pane. This clutters the document and is not an appropriate artifact to release.

The bug, tracked under Defect SOS-DEF-1388, has been a recurring concern for our team, and despite various reports dating back to 2017, it appears that a fix has not been implemented. As recent as 2024, there are comments indicating that the issue persists, which impact multiple companies who use JAMA.

I am aware of workarounds for this issue which involve manual post-editing, but this is not ideal. It's error-prone and ensuring that this manual work is propagated and done correctly across all departments is not ideal.

I am looking to bring attention to the issue again and see if we can get an update on this long-standing issue.

Agreed. This makes the PDF export of an Office template useless since we have to fix this issue, even if everything else is formatted carefully.
