How to use Categories

Is there a blog or video/webinar on how to realistically apply the Categories? How does it differ from Reuse/Sync across projects with tagging? In theory, it sounds like it would be beneficial, but I haven't found any resources for it. It's strange that such a new feature would have so little guidance. Thanks.

I agree, it would be great!
I can list a few use case relevant for me:- use categories instead of releases -> categories are more flexible: you can easily assign more than one release to an item, and without date; in addition, they are unique per organization.
- use categories instead of tags -> better said, tags can be created by the user, categories only by the admin. Categories are substituting the "official" tags. Tags are "freestyle" temporary ones to be used by the user.
- use categories as organization-wide "tags" -> you can reuse items and duplicate the tag. Here you simply generate a new tag in the target project identical in name to the one of the source project. You can manage such "tags" in a single point as category
- use categories to categorize items that are locked by a workflow without performing any change -> that's the issue with tags. It is the real case because me using categories!
- use categories for variant management -> mmhh, I am working on that ...
I hope it helps,
