What’s New

Jama Connect Interchange version 1.2 includes the following enhancements:

Run Excel Functions Across Related Items

The Excel Functions module now includes the ability to run functions across related upstream and downstream items. Previously, all fields included in the function had to come from the same item.

Here are some examples of when this capability might be used:

  • Calculations Across Items
    • You can run complex calculations that pull values from related items. For example, a risk rating that is calculated based on related hazards and harms.

  • Auto-Fill Fields
    • You can automatically populate a field with information from related items. For example, the priority from the upstream requirement or the status from the downstream test case.

Run Excel Functions Across Test Runs and Test Cases

The Excel Functions module now includes the ability to run functions across associated test cases and test runs. This capability is typically used to customize the test case rollup status. Rather than use the standard Jama Connect test case status logic, you can use your own custom logic.

Sync Multiple Sets and Item Types Per Integration

The Excel Functions module and Jira Cloud module now support field mapping groups. This feature allows you to sync multiple Jama Connect sets or folders using the same integration, rather than create a separate integration for each location. Each selected location can include its own set of mapped fields.

Excel Functions Example

For Excel Functions integrations, each field mapping group within an integration must apply to the same Jama Connect project and Excel template.

For example, if you create an integration that maps Jama Project 1 to Excel template A, you can now include all of the following sets in the same integration by creating a separate field mapping group for each on the Field Mappings page:

  • Jama Project 1 > Risks Set 1 to Excel template A.
  • Jama Project 1 > Risks Set 2 to Excel template A.
  • Jama Project 1 > Test Cases Set 3 to Excel template A.

Previously, this configuration required creating and managing three separate integrations.

Jira Cloud Example

For Jira Cloud integrations, each field mapping group must apply to the same Jama Connect project and Jira Cloud project combination.

For example, if you create an integration that maps Jama Project 1 to Jira Project A, you can now include all of the following sets in the same integration by creating a separate field mapping group for each:

  • Jama Project 1 > User Stories Set 1 to Jira Cloud Project A > Stories.
  • Jama Project 1 > User Stories Set 2 to Jira Cloud Project A > Stories.
  • Jama Project 1 > Defects Set 3 to Jira Cloud Project A > Defects.
  • Jama Project 1 > Defects Folder 4 to Jira Cloud Project A > Defects.

Previously, this configuration required creating and managing four separate integrations.

HTML Fields and Comments Now Support Images

The Jira Cloud module now supports syncing embedded images in both HTML fields and comments. This means that, if you add an image to a Rich Text field in Jama Connect, that image is automatically synced to the mapped Rich Text field in the Jira Cloud item, and vice versa.

Similarly, if you add a comment in Jama Connect that includes an image, that image is included in the synced Jira Cloud comment, and vice versa. Diagrams and MathTypes can also be synced, because technically they are image files.
