Enhancements for Jira and Excel Integrations

The following enhancements apply to both Jira and Excel Functions integrations.

Copy Integrations

You can now create copies of existing integrations. This feature allows you to quickly set up multiple, similar integrations for different projects or teams.

To copy an integration, click Copy Integrations in the Integrations table. The new integration is created, and you can update these fields as needed:

  • Integration name
  • Applicable Jama Connect and/or Jira project
  • Creation direction (Jira integrations only)
  • Template location (Excel Functions integrations only)
  • Field mappings, sync frequency, and other settings

If a particular setting must be updated based on your new selections, alerts appear with additional instructions.

Important: When copying integrations, ensure that each new integration points to a different set of Jama Connect items (and Jira items, if applicable) -- running multiple integrations against the same sets of items can lead to conflicts.

Edit Selected Project and Other Settings On Existing Integrations

For existing integrations, you can now update additional settings. Previously, certain settings could be selected only when you initially created the integration.

The following settings can now be updated on existing integrations:

  • Jama Connect project
  • Jira project (Jira integrations only)
  • Creation direction (Jira integrations only)
  • Excel template location (Excel Functions integrations only)

To update these settings, click Edit on the integration dashboard. The integration switches to Edit mode, and you can update any necessary settings. To save your changes, click Save.

Once you changes are saved, validation messages appear, highlighting additional changes you might need to make based on your new selections.

Jira-Specific Enhancements

The following enhancements apply to Jira Cloud and to Jira Data Center integrations.

Sync Relationships Between Jama Connect and Jira

You can now sync relationships or links between items. For example, if an Epic/child link is established between two items in Jira, a corresponding upstream/downstream relationship is created when these two items are synced to Jama Connect.

As long as both items in the relationship belong to the same integration dataset, any relationships added or removed in one system can be reflected in the other system.

To configure relationship syncing between Jama Connect and Jira, select the new Relationships tab.

The following types of links in Jira can be reflected as relationships in Jama Connect, and vice versa:

Epic/Child Links

In Jira, Epics can have one or multiple Jira issues (stories, defects, etc.) linked to them as children. If your integration includes both the Epics and their children, these Epic/child links can be synced to Jama Connect as upstream/downstream relationships. Conversely, upstream/downstream relationships created in Jama Connect can be synced to Jira as Epic/child links.

Issue (Sibling) Links

In Jira, issues can also be linked to each other as siblings, using the Links section in the Jira issue. You can now sync these sibling links to Jama Connect as upstream/downstream relationships, and vice versa.

Note: When syncing relationships to Jama Connect, Interchange abides by the relationship rules configured for your project in Jama Connect. For more information, see the Jama Connect Interchange Help.

Excel Functions Enhancements

The following enhancements apply to Excel Functions integrations.

New Excel Template to Calculate the Max Severity of Related Items

The Excel template library on the Jama Software Community website has been update with a new sample template for calculating the maximum severity of related items. To download the full template library, see the JCI landing page on the Community.

Minor Enhancements

  • Sortable columns
    • Tables throughout the Interchange interface, including on the Integrations, Connectors, Links, and Logs pages, now have sortable columns. This allows you to view and locate specific information more easily. Select a column header to sort data in ascending or descending order by that column.
