How do you use "item of type"?

As an org admin I have tested the "item of type" field type but have not found a good use for it. This is primarily because there is no search option when the user goes edit that field, and we generally have long lists of items.

So I am curious as to how other organizations are using this type of field effectively.

    I'm also curious how others are using the "Item of Type" field type, and why using the Relationship (trace) function in Jama would not accomplish the same goal when using "Item of Type" field type.

    There is not search option, but this might be something to consider:

    I use cloud based Jama, and use Chrome browser. When I edit the "Item of Type" field, and the "Select an item" window pops up, I can use Chromes search function (CTRL+F) to find any text in the list. But, it seems like wildcard symbols (ie. *) do not appear to work

    My team used "Item of Type" for a while in our initial deployment of Jama but we've since moved away from it because of limitations with importing from Excel.

    We've found that using relationships + the relationship import plugin fulfills the same need without the limitations of "Item of Type".
