Best practices for maintaining consistency of diagrams

I am running into some majore limitations with Jama and diagrams. In absence of plug-ins it seems that there is no way to maintain consistency between diagrams otehr than having to upload the images again. Does anyone have any strategies for keeping the consistency of diagrams between items? This is the best I could find so far:
