Trace view export
Hello, When I export the Trace view to Excel it adds an extra row for each source item. For example the first item named 3.01 has four downstream links and when exported to CSV there are five rows. The first row is empty. Is this a bug? Normally when reviewing trace matrices I'm looking for blank rows indicating there is a missing link. Does Jama tool put in blank rows on purpose?!
Please advise.

Hi Andrew,
It looks like this is a bug; the blank spaces are being inserted where the "Add Coverage" link exists on an item. I will file a bug and get back to you with the ID#.0 -
Andrew, the bug ID for tracking purposes is SOS-DEF-1764. If you keep an eye on Release Notes, you will see when this is fixed.0

Kristina,
Thanks for the information. I reviewed the release notes and this link shows the trace view without the "Add Coverage" link. Can I change something so my version looks like the version in the release notes without the Add Coverage link?

The Add Coverage link is there if you have checked For Coverage in the Relationship Rules, so you may or may not want to change that setting. But if you change it to No, that link will disappear.

Hello, I have another question on this topic. I would like to export a trace matrix that includes three levels (system, software, verification). It seems the trace view will only export two levels. Is that correct? Is there no way to export three or more levels with Jama?0

Hi Andrew,
I don't think this is entirely clear from the user guide, but you can export more than 2 levels downstream of your source item. When your blue source column is visible, navigate to the level of depth you want, and then Export. At this point it will export what is visible back up to your source item(s). (The only caveat is that it won't export what is upstream of the source.)0 -
Hey Kristina,
I still have the similar issue when I try to export the trace view. When there is an "add coverage" row in the one column, then the related item will duplicate for that line.
Is there a fix?Thank
Simon

Are there any updates on SOS-DEF-1764? I see this came up 6 years ago and could not find any resolution for it on the available release notes. We would like to generate exports of trace views without having to turn off the coverage enforcement every time.

Hi Lita,
------------------------------
At this point, there isn't a fix currently planned for SOS-DEF-1764 due to the age of the defect combined with some feedback we'd received when originally reviewing this defect that the current behavior was preferred by some. That said, we intend to review it again at a later date. In the meantime, I'll be closing this thread due to its age; if you have any additional questions, please reach out to our Support team HERE.
